Many of you will have heard of the service ‘Talk to Spot’, run by the Bar Council. The purpose of this secure service is to allow anyone working within the Bar environment to report inappropriate or abusive behaviour. You can ‘Talk to Spot’ to report an incident, to ensure there is a record of something you haven’t felt comfortable with, or to find out what resources are available to you by way of support. You can choose to remain anonymous.
We wanted to highlight this service to you because it is for YOU. The service isn’t just for barristers, it’s for all clerks and chambers staff too. As you know, the IBC is committed to working with the Bar Council to continue to take positive steps to improve on our collective working environments. We also want to make sure that you have the support you need throughout your careers.
We would encourage you to read more about the service and highlight it to your colleagues and members. The more we collectively know, even in an anonymous format, the more information we have to consider how to make positive change for all.
