Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Practice for Barristers’ Clerks

UMD Professional has announced the dates for the next intake of the course for Clerks and Practice Managers, leading to the Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Practice for Legal Services awarded by the University of Kent. The course, which was designed with the close involvement of the IBC, is open to Clerks seeking to develop their management and leadership skills further and who want to receive formal recognition through a university qualification which can help them to gain a competitive edge in their future careers.

The course is practical and work-based and focuses on the individual’s work in Chambers. There are two modules, the first focusing on leading improvement and managing change, and the second on business development and developing a business case. This is a blended learning programme involving evening workshops (delivered virtually), webinars and one to one tutorials delivered by the UMD Professional team over one academic year, and enrolments are being invited for the course which starts in late January.

For a prospectus containing details of the course and entry requirements, please contact Fiona Stuart-Wilson at fiona@umdprofessional.co.uk or call her on 020 8255 2070 for an informal chat about the course. The closing date for applications is Friday 8 January 2021.
