Red Lion were incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of Andy Ioannou.
The clerks team, in particular, will feel his absence deeply. He was more than a colleague; he was a mate, a confidant and someone who could lift the mood with just a few words.
He began his clerking career at the Chambers of Richard Ferguson QC, and after overcoming a serious motorbike accident, joined our Chelmsford annexe in February 2007. From day one, Andy brought a rare energy to chambers. He had a knack for connecting with people—members, clerks, solicitors and colleagues—everyone respected him, and everyone liked him.
In 2018, Andy moved to Cyprus, where the warmer climate helped ease the lasting effects of his accident. Even from afar, he remained very much part of our world—his humour, his stories and his straight-talking charm stayed with us.
His legacy will live on in the stories we’ll keep telling, the laughter he sparked and the friendships he built throughout his time with us.
