IBC Virtual Conference 2020

Hello to all clerks, junior and not so junior, IBC members and non-members

I hope that you are all as well as can be expected in these very difficult times, not just in terms of chambers and work, but personally too. 2020 has not been easy.

This has been the year where nothing happened. All our plans for holidays, weddings, big birthday parties, had to be abandoned. We even had to cancel the IBC Annual Conference which was a huge disappointment as I personally love that one weekend where we all have the opportunity to get together, meet our friends and colleagues from across the country, learn something new, get to hear interesting speakers and generally just enjoy each other’s company, knowing that we all have one thing that binds us together. Some of us even enjoy a few drinks together (!)

However, all is not lost. The amazing IBC Conference Committee along with the Education, CDC, COCo and Wellbeing Committees have put together a series of virtual sessions, to be run over a period of weeks, which are accessible to all. The topics include something to appeal to everyone, in which ever discipline you clerk, and the good news is that it is completely free, all you have to do is sign up for the sessions that interest you. Spaces are limited, however and IBC members will be given priority.

I do hope that as many of you as possible will take advantage of this excellent opportunity to access useful and practical online learning, which you will be able to apply to your own role in chambers.

Although we will miss out on the camaraderie of meeting for the conference (and the drinks!), we hope that this virtual conference will reach more of you than ever.

The IBC Conference 2020 agenda is below, along with registration instructions. I hope that you will find something there to encourage you to take part.

Stay safe everyone!
