For many years, we individually and as a collective have struggled to navigate the complexities of the BSB Handbook. We’ve asked ourselves which parts of the Handbook must chambers as organisations comply with, in comparison to the many rules and guidelines associated with the individual responsibilities of our members under the Code of Conduct.
We are pleased to announce that the BSB have now produced a specific page on their website, entitled ‘for chambers’. This page gives those of us who have responsibility in chambers for ensuring compliance and practice management for our sets much clearer guidance on what we need to do to ensure our sets are meeting the required standards of our members’ regulators. It also signposts various good practice tools and is aimed to assist both barristers and chambers staff with achieving the high standards of practice that are synonymous with our sector.
We would like to thank the members of the IBC, LPMA and other stakeholders who participated in the various round table meetings hosted by the Bar Standards Board for their input.
