Announcements from the IBC AGM 2025

The IBC held its AGM on Wednesday 19th March 2025. As a result of the meeting we are delighted to confirm that:

  • Geoffrey Carr, who has Chaired the IBC for the last three years (and been a part of the IBC for many years) has now finished his tenure and has stepped down. We would like to thank Geoff for all his hard work over the years and welcome our new Chair, Dave Scothern.
  • We would also like to thank Howard Rayner who is retiring from the Treasurer role, after a very long and valuable tenure. He has been a part of the IBC for many years and to thank him for his hard work and support he has been awarded ‘Vice President Emeritus’ title, congratulations Howard and enjoy your retirement!
  • As a result of the vote by the AGM attendees, Joe Wilson has been appointed the Vice Chair, Rowan Caffull as Treasurer, Will Theaker as Common Law Secretary, Mark Rushton as Vice Treasurer, Jayne Drake as Crime Secretary, Sarah Earl has been re-elected as Education Secretary and Lucy Burrows re-elected as Chancery Secretary. We will introduce you a bit more to this new Executive Committee, over the next few weeks. We’d like to congratulate them all and wish them good luck in their roles.
  • The changes to the IBC rules that were approved at the 2024 AGM were written into the IBC Rules and were signed off. To view the IBC rules and code of conduct please see here.
  • A change in Treasurer also means a change in the IBC’s c/o address. Please note that all postal correspondence should now be set to ‘Institute of Barrister’s Clerks, c/o 4 Field Court, Gray’s Inn, London, WC1R 5EF’
