Garden Court North Chambers is a progressive and highly successful multi-disciplinary barristers’ Chambers. Members of Chambers specialise in criminal defence, inquests and public inquiries, prison law, immigration law, housing, welfare, court of protection work, family and public law.

We invite applications for the role of Practice Manager to join our ‘exceptional’ Practice Management Team. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to undertake civil and criminal clerking, and will receive training across our practice areas in a supportive learning environment.

Duties will involve dealing with diary bookings and the allocation of work to barrister members; liaising with courts and solicitors in respect of fixing cases; negotiating fees; assisting with the billing of private fees; supporting the day-to-day supervision of the Practice Assistant.

Person specification:

• Experience of civil and/or criminal clerking (or similar transferable experience)
• High level of attention to detail
• Polite, confident communication style
• Strong IT skills
• Ability to manage your own workload to work effectively and efficiently

• Knowledge of legal aid billing
• LEX case management system experience or similar professional software

This is a full time post. Chambers hours of work are 9am to 6pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5.30pm Friday however, we take pride in offering a supportive approach to flexible working. Existing arrangements for staff include part-time working, earlier/late start and finish times, hybrid/remote working.
