Our client, a common law set, specialising in civil, family and public law are looking to recruit an experienced Practice Manager to join their friendly team. The successful applicant will provide support and assistance to all members of Chambers and the Senior Practice Manager and will positively and proactively support Chambers as a business.

Reporting to: Senior Practice Manager and Heads of Chambers

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Clerking/Practice Management

  • Assist the Senior Practice Manager with day-to-day practice management, including:
  • All aspects of diary management such as monitoring the diary, ensuring that all parties have the relevant documentation for meetings, assisting with the administrative preparation for Court Hearings and/or meetings.
  • Assisting with the collation of Court listing information, ensuring all parties are updated with the relevant information.
  • Booking new instructions onto the diary and case management system and ensuring all parties have the relevant documentation.
  • Providing administrative support for ongoing cases as directed, liaising with parties as directed. Monitoring and recording the results of Court hearings within the case management system and ensuring all parties are updated with the relevant information.
  • Providing administrative support for closed/completed cases to include file return/archive as directed. Arranging conferences/meetings at the request of a Senior Practice Manager, Barrister or Client including, welcoming those attending for conferences and arranging refreshments.
  • Supporting the Senior Practice Manager with the preparation for Barrister practice reviews.
  • Assist the Senior Practice Manager with day-to-day finance management, and undertaking billing and fee chasing as required.
  • Assisting with fee negotiations as directed and developing a working understanding of fee arrangements.
  • Responding to telephone, email and other enquiries and/or ensuring they are promptly brought to the attention to the appropriate person within Chambers.
  • Providing cover for the Senior Practice Manager during absence and ensuring any work undertaken is appropriately recorded within the case management system and that all relevant parties are updated.
  • Assist the Senior Practice Manager/Members of Chambers with ad-hoc project support as required.

Business Development/ Relationship Management

  • Assist with business development engaging with and developing relationships with new and existing Clients.
  • Assist with the administration of internal and external business development/marketing insights and intelligence as required.
  • Assist the Senior Practice Manager and other members of Chambers with marketing plans and activity.
  • Present a positive image of Chambers and its Members to all Clients, potential Clients and other third parties at all times.

Chambers/ General

  • Facilitate and support a culture of collaboration and teamwork across Chambers.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to promoting and complying with, all Chambers policies and procedures with reference to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Undertake continuing professional development as appropriate and to take a keen interest in developing an in-depth understanding of the legal market, including Court rules and procedures and relevant fee regulations and cost judge decisions.
  • Undertake such other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably required within the level and grading of the post, working flexibly across other areas of the Chambers as required.
