Job description
1 Crown Office Row is a leading Barristers’ Chambers, with a distinguished reputation in a broad range of civil law specialisms including Healthcare, Public Law, Inquests, Public Inquiries, Human Rights, Professional Discipline, Immigration and Tax. The Chambers comprises 138 barristers, including 25 KCs, based in London and Brighton. Both barristers and staff are known for delivering a friendly, client-focused, and efficient service.
Chambers is currently seeking a Junior Clerk to support its continued growth. This entry-level position plays a key role in supporting and managing barristers’ practices, while also delivering essential assistance to senior colleagues.
About The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Working collaboratively with immediate colleagues and the wider team to deliver a first-class service to members of Chambers, clients, and all those who interact with Chambers.
- Lodging authorities and skeleton arguments with courts and tribunals.
- Assisting members of Chambers to court when required.
- Undertaking general office duties, including printing, post management, archiving, and handling confidential waste.
- Accurately inputting information into Chambers’ case management system.
- Answering telephone calls, directing enquiries appropriately, and liaising with solicitors and other contacts.
The Person
The successful candidate will be able to perform consistently well under pressure, with a personable and professional manner. They will be highly organised, with excellent attention to detail, and demonstrate a strong team-oriented approach alongside a flexible attitude. A commitment to learning and developing new skills is essential.
