Job description
Furnival Chambers is a long-established set of Chambers with a strong reputation as a criminal law specialist. Busy and progressive, the Chambers comprises 86 tenants. In addition to serious and complex crime, Chambers is noted for its specialisms in money laundering, asset forfeiture and extradition.
Chambers has a vacancy for a Junior Clerk, who will assist in the efficient running of the Clerks Team, working under the management and direction of the Senior Clerk and First Junior.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Assisting with the general administration of chambers
• Preparing daily court lists
• Answering phone calls and liaising with chambers members and clients
• Booking in cases and conferences for counsel and solicitors
• To carry out duties as instructed by the Senior Clerk
Applicant’s will need to be highly organised with good spoken and written communication skills, as well as having a good standard of IT literacy – knowledge of the Lex diary management system and O365 will be beneficial, although training will be provided in line with responsibility and career development. The successful candidate will possess the ability to operate under their own initiative as well as fulfil a vital role as part of Chambers’ support team.
Minimum of 1 year experience in criminal clerking preferable but not essential.
