Purpose of Role

  • To assist Barristers and Staff with activities on a day-to-day basis to ensure the smooth running of chambers.

Specific Responsibilities

Administration Duties

  • Assisting counsel with the preparation of hard copy and electronic bundles from papers submitted by clients.
  • Assisting in the operations of the print and stationery room to include copying, faxing, printing, stocking of machines.
  • Managing the junior clerk email inbox. Responding to counsel and completing the relevant tasks which are at hand.
  • Liaising with courts to find out information about up coming hearings.
  • Sourcing case authorities from local libraries or online databases. This includes scanning and printing of the authorities.
  • Supporting the clerking team in the administrative duties, such as entering relevant case data into Lex.

General Responsibilities

  • Assisting the barristers with the delivery of their documents and legal matter to and from court and other venues attended by barristers for hearings.
  • Managing the building along with corridors on the tenants’ floors. This includes stocking the kitchens with water and stationery and ensuring corridors are clear.
  • Dealing with post as required. This includes sorting and delivering to barristers’ rooms. Ensuring outgoing post is posted or taken to the DX sorting office.
  • Booking and organising couriers for barristers and staff.

Personal Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential – Minimum 5 GCSEs including Maths & English’(essential) and ‘A levels or equivalent (desirable).

Experience and Knowledge

Desirable

  • Experience working in a customer service/ client facing role.
  • Good understanding of how a bundle is put together and tabbed.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office in a working environment.
  • Experience with meeting strict deadlines within a work place.

Contract: Permanent full time
