Job description

15 Winckley Square Chambers is the only resident set of Chambers in Preston with 62 barristers
practising in Criminal and Family Law.

We are seeking to recruit a Criminal clerk to join our existing team.

Key Responsibilities

– Diary Management: Intensive and proactive diary management is key to ensuring our service meets the expectations of our ever-growing client base. This includes managing court listings.

– Work Allocation: Fairly & efficiently distributing work across the team.

–Court Liaison: Acting as the primary contact between Counsel, solicitors & the Court.

–Case Preparation: Preparing, organising & collating up-to-date documents for hearings.

–Fee Negotiation: Taking booking & agreeing private fees for Counsel.

–Client Management: Client relationships are key to the team’s success. Maintaining these relationships involves providing high-quality communication and support for both clients & solicitors.

Requirements

–Experience: Previous clerking experience within Crime would be preferred but is not necessarily required.
–Skills: Excellent administrative & communication skills. Knowledge of GDPR & how to handle sensitive data.
–Efficiency: Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced working environment.
–Technical: Familiarity with Legal Case Management Systems (For example, LEX), would be advantageous.
–Professionalism: Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on teamwork & offering a high level of service to all stakeholders.
