Job description

We seek to recruit an Assistant Practice Manager to join our team. Salary – dependent on experience (between £28,000 and £30,000). We are open to applicants who are both new to the industry and have experience.

33 Chancery Lane is a specialist set of barristers with a leading reputation in financial wrongdoing, asset recovery and commercial disputes. Our work is a mix of onshore and offshore advice, litigation, and arbitration across all common law jurisdictions worldwide, with extensive experience in the Middle East and the Caribbean in particular.

Core areas of practice include asset recovery, enforcement, civil and criminal fraud, financial and serious crime, proceeds of crime, tax, regulatory, financial regulation, financial services, construction, energy, insolvency, cryptocurrency and digital assets.

Minimum of 25 days annual holiday excluding bank holidays.

The role will be to join and support the running of the chambers’ practice management team, which will include

  • General administrative and support assistance
  • Researching, photocopying, assembling bundles and lodging documents at court.
  • Transporting files to and from court
  • Diary Management
  • Billing and fee collection
  • Preparing refreshments for clients and visitors
  • Answering telephone calls
  • Any other day-to-day tasks as reasonably requested.

Chambers is open from 08.30 and 18.15, Monday to Friday. There are working shifts within the opening hours: 08.30-17.30; 09.00-18.00 and 09.30-18.15. You will be expected to work a mix of these and, from time to time, work outside of these hours

depending on the chambers’ requirements.

The candidate will have a strong academic background – as well as strong IT literacy, good oral and written skills, be ambitious, be able to handle tasks under pressure, be willing and proactive, and have a motivational and organised approach to their daily tasks. Candidates should have a polite and friendly manner, and be able to demonstrate a willingness to learn. The successful candidate is an ambassador to chambers and will always show a high and professional standard.

The role will allow for the suitable candidate to develop his/her clerking skills with the opportunity to learn all aspects of running chambers
