Job description
Tanfield, based just outside Gray’s Inn in London, is a modern set of chambers whose members pride themselves on providing the best possible level of service to its clients. We are looking to recruit An Assistant Practice Manager to join our team immediately.
The successful candidate will be conscientious, hard-working, and enthusiastic; you will also be capable of working as part of a team as well as using your own initiative. This role is ideal for someone who is interested in starting a career as a barrister’s clerk.
Duties for this role as an example:
Attend fixing appointments at the High Court and County Court.
Enter briefs/instructions/inbound documents onto the LEX system.
Administer and assist with clerking the pupils’ diaries.
Assist with daily court listings and notification of barristers’ diaries.
Assist with clerking junior barristers’ diaries in liaison with the Senior Practice Managers.
Assist with the administration & calls relating to any direct access work.
Ensuring all barristers have been notified on movements for the following day.
Assisting barristers with photocopying and court runs.
Assisting the PM with the clerks’ email mailbox.
Assist with set-up for work/social events when required
Agreeing and negotiating brief fees, tranches, fixed fees for paperwork and hourly rates & billing.
