1MCB Chambers recruiting 2 roles – Office Assistant and Junior Civil & Family Clerk
1MCB Chambers is a well-established barristers’ chambers, offering advice and representation in a range of practice areas across crime, immigration, housing, regulatory, family and civil work. We have a long standing record of internal promotion and a number of our clerks started out in junior roles.
We are now seeking to recruit for two roles:
– Office Assistant – this role helps the office across a number of tasks, including post, clerking duties, sending out letters, marketing activities, updating records in LEX and phoning solicitors to obtain documentation. The role is a good first step into working in a chambers as there is the opportunity to get involved in diary management and handling incoming calls.
– Junior Civil & Family Clerk – this role supports all aspects of the civil and family practice, including diary, managing papers, negotiating fees, billing, deputising for the Senior Civil & Family Clerk and being the key contact for solicitors and members. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate initiative. 2 years+ clerking experience is also desirable and a knowledge of LEX and of billing (including LA billing) would be an advantage.
For both roles, good administration, communication and organisational skills are essential. Successful applicants will also need to have a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) passes A-C, including Maths and English.
