Six Pump Court Chambers is seeking an experienced Criminal Clerk (5+ years) to join our established and growing Criminal Team in London. Working closely with the Senior Criminal clerk.  This is a high‑volume, client‑facing role within a highly regarded, long‑established common law set, offering excellent job security and long‑term career prospects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactive management of criminal barristers’ diaries, including effective work allocation and listing.
  • Primary contact for instructing solicitors and clients, advising on availability, suitability and case strategy.
  • Negotiation and agreement of fees (privately funded and legally aided), ensuring commercial viability.
  • Fixing and managing criminal matters from first appearance through to trial and appeal.
  • Supporting members’ practice development through structured practice reviews and guidance.
  • Contributing to business development and client relationship initiatives to grow the Criminal Team.

Skills and Experience

  • Significant experience as a criminal clerk in chambers.
  • Strong understanding of criminal practice, court procedures and relevant funding/regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven fee negotiation skills and strong commercial judgement.
  • Highly organised, accurate and resilient, with the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Professional, confident and personable, with the ability to build trust with members, solicitors, courts and lay clients.
  • Collaborative team player, committed to delivering a first‑class clerking service.
