Our client, is a leading set of Barristers’ Chambers based in the north of England, specialising in Civil, Family and Criminal law. Chambers has 107 Barristers including 10 KC’s. Members are recognised by the leading legal directories for their skilled advocacy and the delivery of rigorous advice and representation.
Chambers is now seeking a hard working a pro-active individual to join its Criminal Clerking Team. The role works closely with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of Chambers, appropriate support for members and their practices, as well as delivering a highly efficient service to Chambers broad range of clients, partner agencies and external stakeholders.
To secure the most appropriate person, Chambers has an open approach as to the level of experience any incoming person has and welcomes applications from experienced clerks or practice managers, those working in similarly fast-paced environments with transferable skills and those seeking to begin a career in a demanding and rewarding environment.
The Role – Core duties will include, training and development provided where required:
- Assisting with the overall practice and diary management
- Allocate hearings and conferences to appropriate counsel
- Quoting and agreeing members’ fees for appropriate cases
- Liaising with courts and solicitors, including both oral and written correspondence
- Client care and liaison
The successful candidate will:

- Offer excellent written and oral communication skills
- Possess high attention to detail
- Possess a professional application and attitude
- Be a team player capable of supporting other members of the team
