Serjeants’ Inn Chambers is a leading civil law set specialising in high-profile medical, police, professional discipline, regulatory, business & specialist crime, and public law cases, often involving important legal, ethical, and social issues.

Members of our award-winning staff team play a vital part in the success of the set as a whole. We are looking for bright, highly-motivated individuals to join us, with two new permanent Assistant Practice Manager roles available.
The Assistant Practice Manager role:
Working as part of a highly motivated team, in tandem with a practice manager and the wider practice management team, the role will involve the following core responsibilities:
- proactive diary planning and management;
- entering cases and opportunities into our case management software;
- recommending counsel to clients;
- assisting on fee agreements and estimates including cost budgeting;
- assisting with barristers’ practice growth and development;
- attending Chambers’ promotional events and developing relationships with clients;
- overseeing and supervising of junior clerks with the wider team;
- liaising with barristers, clients, courts and other team members and stakeholders to ensure service standards are maintained;
- undertaking other administrative tasks, as and when required.
Person Specification:
A successful candidate is likely to have effective communication and organisational skills and have a proven record in a similar role previously. They will have:
- a willingness to learn and be enthusiastic as to the work they are undertaking with a commitment to further development of their skillset;
- pride in their previous achievements and a drive to accomplish more;
- an excellent manner with colleagues, clients and contacts;
- a calm, positive can-do approach, even under pressure, with an ability to adapt and prioritise competing demands in a busy and changing work environment;
- an attention to detail and the ability to record and process data accurately;
- integrity, with an absolute commitment to confidentiality;
- a full understanding of equality and diversity principles;
- the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders;
- a proven record of managing professional practices.
Experience or working knowledge of the MS Office suite software, Chambers LEX software and audio visual set up and arrangements would be desirable but not essential.
