Join us for a practical session on making practice review meetings effective and fair. Designed for clerks at all levels, this talk will explore how to prepare for, conduct, and follow up on practice reviews in line with the Institute of Barristers’ Clerks (IBC) Practice Review Checklist. We’ll look at how to turn these meetings from routine check-ins into genuine opportunities for barristers’ development — covering everything from reviewing data and setting goals to managing sensitive conversations and maintaining trust.
Joe Kallas of Old Square Chambers and a colleague to be confirmed will share their insights on running constructive and meaningful reviews, while Rachel Krys from Bar Council will focus on work distribution and equal pay, highlighting how clerks can play a vital role in ensuring fairness and transparency across chambers. Whether practice management forms part of your future or present, or you’re an experienced senior clerk who oversee a team undertaking them, this session will offer fresh ideas, practical tools, and confidence to make your next round of reviews more strategic, supportive, and equitable.
