Dear colleagues,

I am delighted to follow up on my previous messages with the final details of this year’s conference. As you will see from the agenda, we have put together a truly informative and engaging programme, with something for everyone.

In the morning session, we will hear from our key note speaker, Chair of the Bar for 2022, Mark Fenhalls QC and from our guest speaker, barrister and ‘Chaser’, Dr Shaun Wallace (aka “The Dark Destroyer” from ITV’s The Chase).

In addition, there will be two engaging talks from two very engaging speakers: First we will hear from former SAS Major turned award-winning, author and business and leadership coach, Floyd Woodrow MBE DCM LLB, who will be speaking to us about ‘Elite leadership and performance for Bar clerks and chambers staff’. During this session Floyd will discuss how you can be difficult to beat even on your worse day using his Compass for Life philosophy.

We will then hear from former barrister turned master mindfulness teacher, Neil Seligman of ‘The Conscious Professional’ who will be addressing us on the subject of ‘Cultivating professional resilience at the Bar’. In this dynamic and interactive session, Neil will explore the true meaning of resilience and what it takes to cultivate it, as well as tending to one of the trickiest aspects of professional development – finding authentic self-appreciation through the maze of impostor syndrome.

Then, in the afternoon, we have various workshops focusing on personal and career development to choose from. These include: social media/personal branding, wellbeing, domestic and international business development, fair allocation of work, subject access requests; and the always popular update on legal aid billing.
